Welcome to my Blog, a Crafting Year
Hello
I taught myself to knit in 2011 I have been posting photos of my knitting creations on facebook but as I am starting to bore my friends I have created this blog to record my progress. Then I thought I might try my hand at other crafts and see how I get along. I will try a different craft every month and you can read about my successes and failures and even laugh at my photos as I try different things like felting, crochet, sewing, papercrafts etc and try and make a few things from the kids favourite book Star Wars crafts, amongst others...lets see how it goes

Today is the start
Well I guess I had better start the yr with knitting. I taught myself whilst on holiday in Dorset from a book called 'Complete guide to Knitting & Crochet' by Nicki Trench and made all 3 boys a Garter stitch scarf (pg 79) I liked the wool so much (Sirdar Squiggle) that I made them all a hat from the squiggle kids hat pattern
and it has just progressed from there.
The next book was 'I love knitting' by Rachel Henderson where I found the flower corsage pattern. I made about 14 in total for teachers & friends as Christmas gifts.
I have since made lots of little things, snakes using icord methodfrom 'Knit 7 Purl pets' by Claire Garland
A few pirate mice by Deadly Knitshade
Even a cup cake tea cosy pattern by Frankie's knitted stuff
But now I am working on my first ever jumper......
