Look what arrived in the post today - my new circular needles, they came in a pack of adjustable needles with varying length cables so I can change the needle size without having to remove the whole thing-Genius- I got them from a website called www.meadowyarn.co.uk and they sent me a tea bag with the invoice, nice :o)
So this means I must learn how to do the 'Magic Loop' to make the sleeves for the jumper. You tube is my friend and when I searched 'knitting magic loop' I found loads of really good videos showing you how to do it.
So you cast on the required stitches then take it to the middle of the circular needles. Divide the stitches into two egual parts then slide the stitches back up to the needles- So far, so good.
Then you start knitting pulling the needle up on the side you wish to knit onto.....
The problem I seem to have is where the stitches join to make the tube of knitting is too big a gap (by the needle tip)
So back to Youtube and start again, I understand the idea but think I might practise a bit more first. I'll keep you posted...........
Welcome to my Blog, a Crafting Year
Hello
I taught myself to knit in 2011 I have been posting photos of my knitting creations on facebook but as I am starting to bore my friends I have created this blog to record my progress. Then I thought I might try my hand at other crafts and see how I get along. I will try a different craft every month and you can read about my successes and failures and even laugh at my photos as I try different things like felting, crochet, sewing, papercrafts etc and try and make a few things from the kids favourite book Star Wars crafts, amongst others...lets see how it goes
