Welcome to my Blog, a Crafting Year

Hello
I taught myself to knit in 2011 I have been posting photos of my knitting creations on facebook but as I am starting to bore my friends I have created this blog to record my progress. Then I thought I might try my hand at other crafts and see how I get along. I will try a different craft every month and you can read about my successes and failures and even laugh at my photos as I try different things like felting, crochet, sewing, papercrafts etc and try and make a few things from the kids favourite book Star Wars crafts, amongst others...lets see how it goes

attaching the sleeves

So how do you attach the sleeves? I go see my friend Rosemary!! She has finished her Owl jumper so was happy to talk me through what to do. Thanks Rose :o)

Well on the body of the jumper I had to put 6 stitches onto a stich saver on each side so on each sleeve I also had to put aside six stitches.

These are to be grafted at the end. So starting with the left sleeve where I had yarn I started to knit onto the body

Making sure I had the right order, left sleeve, front, right sleeve, back.
The place where the arms attach (armpit?) was a bit loose but I can sew it tighter at the end.

I knitted 4 rounds and this is what I got
So next is to work the Owls. I have a chart for the cabling and took advantage of the children being at school to make a start.
I will show you the results tomorrow as it is too dark to take photos.

In other news I have booked a place on a Crochet course at Love Yarn in Andover. Its 2 hrs every Saturday morning for 4 weeks so I guess thats my craft for February decided.
I am hoping to make something fun for the Valentines #twitknitclub challenge on twitter. Maybe a nice heart garland??
Meanwhile I have until Sat 4th to finish this jumper and I think I might be running out of wool.....
